California

Hi I’m California.  You may want to visit me, because I’m a big state. I am in the western side of the United States and I stretch 900 miles between Mexico and Oregon. My weather is sunny, cactuses, redwood trees, and lots to see. There are a lot of famous people that live here, most live in LA or Hollywood. California has many wonders to see.

A natural wonder that I was interested in was the Amboy Crater.  Amboy Crater is located in Joshua Tree National Park in San Bernardino. It is a great place to go ATVing with lots of small mountains. It is a dry place but with a good wind, sand and rocks. The Amboy crater was formed by ash and cinders. It is in one of the youngest volcanic fields in the USA.

The next wonder I picked was the Golden Gate Bridge. This bridge is in San Francisco which is in the northern part of California. The Golden State bridge is the most beautiful and most photographic bridge in the world. It was built in 1937 and was the longest and the tallest bridge in the world. It is 4,200 ft long and 746 ft tall. It is a big red bridge and very famous.

A historical wonder in California was the Women Suffrage Centennial. In 1893, women wanted the right to vote, but it was shot down. In 1910, a republican governor was in office and the women were able to win the chance to vote. In order for women to win this, they had to work with many different groups to get support and to advertise. They did this by creating playing card, push back pins, pennants, and posters.

The state symbol I chose for California is the Grizzly Bear. The Grizzly Bear is California’s state animal and is honored  on the state flag. When California was first settled, the Grizzly Bear created a struggle for settlers. By 1922, every bear had been hunted and killed in the state of California.

The state hero I picked for California is Victoria Vetri. She was born September 26, 1944.Victoria Vetri was an American Idol and actress . Victoria Vetri went to Hollywood  High School in Hollywood in California 1959.  She married and had a son named Bret Vetri born in September 8, 1963.

I hope you enjoyed reading about all the California has to offer. It is a really special state with lots to see and do.
